John Jay Track Team Parents
April 13, 2010
To: All Parents of John Jay Track Team Athletes
From: Coach Bob Lee
I am writing to request help from all parents of the Track Team Athletes in an effort to raise money for the team.
During the past year, due to many budget cuts and reallocation of funds to other areas, our funding for our team has been drastically cut. Due to these cuts, we have had to make many concessions for all three seasons. Our overnight meet was eliminated during the cross-country season and we have had to greatly reduce the number of meets we were allowed to attend in the Winter/Spring seasons. We are unable to purchase any new equipment and the high jump pit is falling apart. I have listed the High Jump pit as an emergency/safety concern, the district yet will not purchase one.
Since the reduction in funds, the Booster club has provided the additional funds necessary, above the usual contribution, for the items listed below:
Equipment Purchases
Material purchased to maintain current condition of equipment
Entry fees for some meets
Entry Fees for National level competitions
Uniforms
End of season awards
While our fundraising efforts are ongoing, they cannot offset the extra draw to cover the above costs.
In order to help offset these costs, I would like to request that each parent/family become a member of the Track Booster Club. Suggested membership fee is $10.00. Your membership fee donation would help to raise money for our athletes and allow us to purchase much needed equipment, entry fees for meets and nationals, etc. Joining the Booster Club is not mandatory, it is a way to have families support what I hope you believe in, that sports play an important role in your high school student’s academic development. It is also a good way for parents and families to get to know one another.
To become a member of the Booster Club, please complete the bottom section of this form and make your check payable to John Jay Track. Please return your form and check to me by April 16, 2010. If it is easier you can mail your check to, 24 Creekside rd , Hopewell Junction NY 12533..
Thank you for your support.
Name:
Yes – I am interested in joining the Booster Club
